Volunteer for the Boston Marathon

  • October 29, 2010
  • Organization: Boston Athletic Association
  • Causes: Sports

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the 115th Boston Marathon. Every spring we rely on the hard work of thousands of volunteers to assist us in nearly every department of the marathon.

We will accept volunteer applications for the 2011 Boston Marathon between Tuesday, January 11, 2011 and Friday, February 11, 2011.

For your planning purposes, we have posted a list of job descriptions, check-in locations, and check-in times in the links on the left. During the application process please only select jobs that match your schedule. When the application is available, it can be found here on this page.

For those of you who have volunteered before you know that being a volunteer is the best way to see the action close up and that you usually get far more out of the experience than you put into it. While we understand you will most-likely never forget your time volunteering at the city's most exciting event, as a parting gift we present each volunteer with the 2011 Boston Marathon commemorative pin. Another exciting part of being a volunteer is wearing the 2011 Boston Marathon adidas volunteer jacket as you carry out your volunteer duties. While the volunteer jacket has a strict operational purpose and cannot be purchased, adidas proudly presents each volunteer with this exciting piece to be taken home and celebrated for years to come. Each volunteer over the age of 21 receives a complimentary ticket to the to the  Post-Race Party to be held on Monday, April 18, 2011, offering another way to share and celebrate your volunteer accomplishments with other members of the Boston Marathon community. Volunteers are also welcome and encouraged to attend the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo at the Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston during race weekend.
