Wang YMCA Helps Families Be Safe and Healthy this Summer
The Wang YMCA – a leading nonprofit that strengthens community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility – is offering a five week “Mini” program session from May 21-June 24. According to Joann Donnelly, YMCA of Greater Boston’s Executive Director of Healthy Living, “Spring is the perfect time to begin exploring the Y and the many opportunities for the whole family to get and stay fit and healthy through the summer months, especially since many kids tend to be inactive during summer vacation.”
In addition to progressive swim lessons that teach water safety skills and prepare kids for being around water during the summer, the Wang YMCA is excited to offer a wide variety of programs to keep the whole community active such as youth sports, and adult specialty classes such as Athletic Circuit Training and Tai Chi. Over 25 group exercises classes like Zumba and Yoga are also included in membership.
With the Y’s Summer Shape Up Challenge in partnership with Lose It!, adults can also feel healthy and confident for summer by burning 1,000 calories a week and receiving weekly workouts and tips.
The Y is committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for everyone to live healthily, and financial assistance is available.
