Anarchist Group Smashes Windows at Upper Crust

Members targeted the chain based on allegations that the restaurant has been exploiting immigrant workers.

Boston anarchists took credit for smashing the windows at three Upper Crust Pizzerias, including the one on Newbury Street, in the early morning of May 1.

According to a blog post, members targeted the chain based on allegations that the restaurant has been exploiting immigrant workers.

"This action was done on the morning of May Day to both stand in solidarity with Upper Crust workers as well as celebrate the international day of worker and immigrant rights and struggles, which are still going on today," the post read, in part.

Immigration officials are investigating the claim. The pizzeria also dealt with boycotts, and lost three store managers after a Boston Globe story in December where former employees alleged the chain took advantage of Brazilian workers.
