Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops kicked off the 2011 Holiday Pops season on December 7 with the immensely popular Tanglewood Festival Chorus in a host of familiar Christmastime favorites including the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah, “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer,” and the ever-popular “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” with a special appearance by Santa Claus himself. Peter Fielder, Vice President of Administrative Services at BU (and son of legendary Boston Pops conductor Arthur Fiedler), led the Boston Pops in the orchestra's signature piece "Sleigh Ride,” marking the first time a Fiedler has been on the podium since 1979! The Holiday Pops season presents 37 concerts in total, December 7-24, at Symphony Hall. For further information, visit www.bostonpops.org!
