Yet another pair of Berklee graduates quickly rising to musical success shouldn’t surprise anyone, but the appearance of a Berklee-based band on Saturday Night Live definitely turns a few heads. Described as “swag pop” stars by their fans, the duo Karmin, featuring two Berklee alumni, Amy Heidemann ’08 and Nick Noonan ’08, will be performing on SNL on Saturday, February 11. The episode will be hosted by actress/musician Zooey Deschanel.
Karmin became popular after they released their cover of Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khCokQt--l4) on YouTube, which went viral last spring, hitting over 50 million views. After Ellen DeGeneres saw the video, she immediately asked them to perform on her show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JNi1UXCktA). Ever since, the two musicians, who are now engaged to be married, have been wowing crowds with unique covers of pop singles. Next month, they have plans to release a debut album with original songs. You can watch Karmin perform on SNL on February 11th. I have to say, their Chris Brown cover may or may not be one of the most hilarious and awesome videos I’ve seen. Their appearance on SNL will definitely be worth watching.
