Update: Power Restored in Back Bay

The transformer that caused the last power outage was being worked on and shorted out, causing another power outage today.

Update: 1:20 p.m.

NStar reports power has been restored. It was out for almost an hour, from noon to around 12:45 a.m.

Original report

Here we go again.

About 13,500 customers in Back Bay are currently without power after the transformer that caused the wide-spread March 14 blackout shorted out while it was being worked on.

NStar has been notified, and Boston police are assisting with traffic. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution in the area.

The area affected is the same as the prior blackout, including Columbus Ave. to the Charles River, and out to the Fenway area.

As before, the Christian Science Center reportably has power.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
