Poll: Have You Had Trouble Finding An Apartment in Back Bay?
Two new reports have come out showing that apartment rents in the Back Bay are on a steady upward climb, and we need your vote in our poll to evaluate the effect of this increase on the neighborhood.
Boston rents are the 5th highest of any city in the nation, according to Reis Inc., a New-York-based firm quoted in this Boston Globe article, and the news from Rentjuice, a San Francisco tech company that aggregates real estate data and makes real estate software, isn't much better for renters.
Rentjuice reports that Back Bay rentals have the 6th highest cost per square foot of any neighborhood in the Boston area, as seen here:

According to their numbers, the average asking monthly rent for an apartment in the Back Bay has also gone up just slightly in the past few months, with an increase of $10 between September 2011 and December 2011.

Back Bay is also 16th on the list of average asking rents in the Boston area.

Kendall Square is the top scorer, with average rents of $2,771, but neighborhoods like Brookline Village (average rent $2,398) and Downtown Crossing ($2,439) are still hitting wallets harder than Back Bay apartments, who are averaging $2,184 in monthly rents.
