Brown: En Route to Boston, Tonight's Debate is On

Sen. Scott Brown reportedly left D.C. in the nick of time to make a 4:30 p.m. flight to Boston in order to make tonight's debate at 7 p.m.

Sen. Scott Brown is reportedly en route from Washington D.C. to Boston in order to make it for tonight's debate versus Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, after speculation that he may miss the debate.

The incumbent candidate said on Thursday afternoon that he may miss the Thursday night debate in Boston due to a senate vote happening in D.C.

Brown told the Boston Globe that if there were senate votes scheduled through the rest of the afternooon, he would have to miss the debate.

"Voting is 'the one thing that I can’t delegate to the staff,' he told the Globe. 'I’ve only missed one vote.'

Brown told the Globe he would attempt to make a 4:30 p.m. plane so he could make it to WBZ studios by 7 p.m. for the flight. According to WBZ News Radio's Twitter account, Brown made that flight.

"Tonight’s WBZ Senate Debate is on! Senator Brown tells Jon Keller he is en route to the airport," WBZ tweeted at 3:37 p.m.

There was no way he was going to miss the debate. Maybe he just wanted to drum up even more excitement - you know, get the ratings up, discussions going, and Twitterverse tweeting.

“We have no more votes today. No more votes today. It’s obvious to me what’s going on,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the top Democrat in the chamber, said on the Senate floor. “I’ve been to a few of these rodeos. It is obvious there is a big stall taking place. One of the senators who had a debate tonight doesn’t want to debate. Well, he can’t use the Senate as an excuse. There will be no more votes today.”
