Boston Police Officers were working a paid detail at 90 Exeter Street, Storyville, when officers witnessed a man strike another man with a closed fist to the face, knocking him to the gutter.

Security guards rushed the suspect and broke up the fight as soon as they realized what had happened. The security personnel were able to restrain the suspect.

At this point, officers reported that the suspect claimed that the victim had swung first, which officers did not observe. Officers noted that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The victim was visibly disoriented after being struck. His companions lifted him out of the gutter and carried him out of the scene. 

Officers arrested Michael Spittel of 5856 Via Romero Street, Yorba Linda, CA, and charged him with assault and battery.
