Cinco de Mayo Celebration and More This Weekend

Fun events for Thurs, May 5 - Sun, May 8.

CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION
Where/When: Zocalo, Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - close
Why Go: Okay, so sangria is not really Mexican, but it’s what Zocalo does best and they sell it by the pitcher, so we’ll let it go. But, if you are going to be drinking sangria on Cinco de Mayo, you at least need to know that you’re celebrating the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French in 1862 and not Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s September 16). Comprende?
Pricing: Half pitcher of sangria- $12.95, full pitcher- $21.95

BOSTON BAKES FOR BREAST CANCER
Where/When: Thursday - Sunday
Why Go: Over 250 restaurants, bakeries, and chocolatiers across the Boston area are offering special dessert creations from which 100% of the proceeds go to benefit breast cancer research. Sweet! Participating Back Bay restaurants include City Table, Da Vinci Ristorante, Lucca, Sweet, Grill 23, Turner Fisheries and XHALE. Complete list available here.

MOMMIE ‘N ME POLE DANCING CLASS
Where/When: Gypsy Rose Dancing Studio, Friday, 7:30 p.m. & 9 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. & 3 p.m.
Why Go: Don’t let the name throw you—mommie ‘n me pole dancing class is for the 18+ crowd only. We can pretty much guarantee this is going to be way more memorable than last year's brunch. Reserve your spot in class here.
Pricing: $25 per person

LADIES LUXURY ESCAPE
Where/When: Radisson Hotel Boston, Saturday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Why Go: The Radisson doesn’t exactly scream luxury to us either, but all the boutique and spa items, martinis and free massages should be enough to distract from the fact that you’re not at the Taj. Tickets available here.
Pricing: $10-$75

BYE BYE BALLOON CHILDREN’S BOOK SIGNING
Where/When: Sean Boyce Studios, Saturday, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: Written by New England Author Ryan SanAngelo (you might be familiar his Spaghetti Eddie) and illustrated by Boston artist Sean Boyce, Bye Bye Balloon chronicles the world travels of a courageous balloon through Boyce’s vibrant oil paintings. Both author and illustrator will be on hand to sign books. Preview the book here.
Pricing: Free
