Homeless Man Charged with Stealing Woman's Purse

Boston Police officers responded to a report of a larceny in progress near Exeter Street and Newbury Street on November 15 at 9:47 p.m..

When officers arrived, they were informed that witnesses were chasing the suspect. One witness stated that she had observed the suspect running down Newbury Street with people yelling at him and chasing him as he headed down an alley way. The suspect disappeared behind some cars and disappeared.

Officers spoke with the victim stated that she was inside a restaurant when she heard her friends shout from the other side of the table. One yelled, “stop him,” as he removed her purse from the back of her chair and took off. The suspect was pursued into a nearby alleyway, but no one saw him leave.

As police scanned the area, they found the man hiding under a car. The police ordered the man to produce his hands and ordered him to crawl out. “How do I get out of this?” he asked officers.

Witnesses identified the man and the victim was able to identify her all of belongings. She believed that she was missing about $100 but that was recovered as well.  

Officers arrested Glenn Carbonneau, a homeless man from Boston, and charged him with Larceny, purse snatching, worth $200 or mote. The suspect was found to have three outstanding warrants as well.
