Man Charged with Shoplifting $940 Worth of Sunglasses

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

 

Boston Police officers responded to a report of shoplifting at 786 Boylston Street on October 27 at 5:37 p.m..

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the caller who stated that they had witnessed the suspect pocket two pairs of sunglasses and conceal them in his coat. The suspect then exited the store after passing all points of purchase.

When a security guard approached the suspect and identified himself, the suspect attempted to flee. The security guard stated that a struggle followed, but they were able to detain the suspect and handcuff them for safety sake.

Joseph Trial of 12 Cedar Street, Malden was arrested and charged with larceny over $250. The stolen/damaged sunglasses, valued at $940 total, were returned to the store.
