Man Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Motorycle Crash on Marlborough St.

The victim crashed into the rear of a Subaru on Marlborough Street on Sunday, but it's not clear if the car was moving or parked.

Boston.com reports a man on a motorcycle collided with a car on Marlborough Street around 6 p.m. Sunday, and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the man was on a Ducati bike and he struck the rear of a Subaru. It's not clear if someone was driving the car or if it was parked, but the motorcyclist was the only person injured.

Police had no further information about the victim's identity or condition Tuesday morning, and said the accident reconstruction team is still investigating the cause.

The car was definitely parked and the motorcycle rammed right into the back. There was a loud "engine revving" noise for a second or two before the crash. My guess is the rider either accidentally hit the throttle or lost control trying to speed down the street. The crash was violent and the rider was definitely not in good shape.

As a rider, driving through the city requires military-type attention to traffic details. A story like this is hard to swallow. Please keep an extra eye out for motorcycles as the summer season kicks in. We're not perfect but we strive to make it home safely every day.
