There's been a lot of talk about busing and the future of Boston's public schools, and hopefully we can learn from the past. 

On Feb. 29 from 6:15 - 8 p.m. Old South Church is holding a community conversation that looks back to the busing crisis of the 1970's as a way of exploring today's issues regarding educational equality and transportation in Boston’s public schools

Senior Minister Emeritus James Crawford will recount the church’s decision to engage the issue more than 40 years ago, while Rosa Hunter of Union of Minority Neighborhoods will use part of their acclaimed film “Can We Talk” to stimulate dialogue about that tumultuous time as well as about the perils and possibilities of busing in today’s Boston.

“Intended to address de facto segregation, busing was and remains today an imperfect tool. We want to explore solutions, speak frankly and learn from one another,” said the Rev. Nancy S. Taylor, Senior Minister.

The event will include the chance for participants to engage in small group discussions and the evening will conclude with opportunities to get involved with this issue.
