A crowd of people picketed outside the Boston Marriott Copley today, protesting whether contractors in charge of the Boston Marriot Copley Place hotel's renovation project are treating their out-of-state workers lawfully.
Police received a call around 3:30 p.m. that the protests were causing traffic concerns around 110 Hunting Ave. but all was clear by 5:30 p.m.
As the state investigates, the Boston City Council last week slammed the hotel after a a Jan. 19 Boston Globe article highlighted the allegations. Councilors supported a resolution that asks the hotel to “take all necessary actions to ensure that the contracted employees at [the hotel] receive fair wages and benefits.”
