Should Scott Brown Run for Governor?

A UMass Lowell/Boston Herald poll shows he is in a strong position to run in 2014.

Results of a UMass Lowell/Boston Herald poll this week show former Senator Scott Brown is more popular than he was when he lost his re-election bid last fall and is in a strong position to run for governor in 2014.

The independent, nonpartisan poll surveyed 600 Massachusetts registered voters between Saturday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 5.

With regard to Brown, the poll – which asked voters for their opinions on whether they would vote for Brown if he runs for governor – showed he has considerable bipartisan support, with 32.7 percent saying they are very likely to vote for him and 26 percent somewhat likely.

Results showed that Brown, who garnered support of 92.2 percent of Republicans polled and 36.7 percent of Democrats, had more name recognition than other possible candidates, including Charlie Baker (67.2 percent combined said they had no opinion/never heard of Baker), former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (58.4 percent combined no opinion/never heard of) and state Treasurer Steve Grossman (79.5 percent no opinion/never heard of).

So tell us, what do you think? Would you vote for Scott Brown for governor? Or is there another potential candidate out there who you think would be a better fit for the seat? Tell us in the comments below.

Why would I? Because he has a pick-up truck? Brown is an intellectual light weight, a Fox News republican masquerading as an independent. No, he should not run. Massachusetts deserves better.

Brown only got elected to Senate because he knows many wealthy people in upper ranks. He and his family are no big deal. He's not qualified to be a Gov, he did nothing noteworhty in the Senate.

Everything‽ HAMMERED‽ Perhaps, but I fear you trade in hyperbole. As of 2009, Massachusetts ranked 33rd of 50 in overall state and local taxes as a percentage of income. Read and learn.

Aside from that, (if it's even a valid argument, which it would appear not to be) what's the compelling reason for chameleon Scott Brown for Governor?

Answer, nothing in particular.

No no no. So many reasons: review his run for the Senate, (mis)handling & supervision of his own (small) staff, innate polarizing ways, smarmy attitude towards women, his R-wing views/attitudes... pretense of being an indepent. Don't put us in that camp again!

I don't know, maybe. One party rule is for the birds. I voted for Scott Brown for senate twice, but Elizabeth Warren has pretty much won me over & I can see myself voting for her for reelection or for governor if she runs. Politicians need to remember that they are the servants of the people, not the other way around. The vast majority of politicians just seem like they are in it for an ego boost or to secure a kush lobbyist job when their term is up.

No thank you.
I do not feel he is qualified for the job and I dont agree with his political views or voting record. I can not in all honesty vote for any republican party candidate ever again given the destructive actions of the last several years and the utter refusal of the House and Senate Republicans to work cooperatively with the President and across the aisle for the greater good of the Country.

Joe
Definitely no. Brown was extremely ineffective as a senator. I wouldn't trust him, he that met with kings and queens. There is no Republican in this state that I would vote for. Republican means take the bread from your table.
(and I'm an Independant).....

Scot Brown is no light weight. He sponsored the 'Stock Act" and got it passed. The law prohibits members of Congress from insider trading on information garnered from Congreesional meeting, committees and private conversations. Such activity is a jailing offense for us mere mortals. Details of this were covered by 60 Minutes last year. Scott Brown was the only sitting senator that I know of who deployed with his unit to Afghanistan for active duty. He did not hide out in an office in Kabul, much to the anxiety of his staff. I think being a so called political "nobody" is a good thing.
