Storrow Drive Tunnel Westbound Will Be Closed at Night Through Dec. 1

The closure of the busy artery will be from 9 p.m to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 1, according to the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

One of Boston's main thoroughfares will be closed at night as workers make interim repairs to a tunnel system.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation is closing the Storrow Drive Tunnel westbound every weeknight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The closures are expected to last until Dec. 1.

A detour will take motorists over the Longfellow Bridge, encouraging them to use Memorial Drive.

The repairs will buy time — up to a decade — for the state to come up with a long-term plan to shore up the 60-year-old tunnel, according to the Globe.

The closures will be from the Hatch Shell to Clarendon.
