Suffolk Prosecutors and Boston Police Continue to Investigate Tuesday Night's Shooting
The fatal officer-involved shooting is still under investigation.
One day after a fatal officer-involved shooting on Darmouth Street, the Suffolk District Attorney's Office released a statement that the incident is still under investigation.
"Working with members of the BPD Firearms Discharge Investigation Team, a senior prosecutor will review the facts and circumstances to determine whether charges are warranted; that process began at the scene yesterday, continued through the night, and is ongoing this morning," said Jake Wark, press secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Wark said the deceased’s identity will be released, likely by Boston Police, after family notifications have been made.
The incident occured around 5:45 on Tuesday night, when police enacted a traffic stop on Dartmouth Street. The operator reportedly showed a gun and fled the scene. Two Boston Police officers pursued the suspect, and one of them fired a shot, which struck him in the chest, fatally wounding him. The suspect was pronouced dead at Boston Medical Center.
