And, are there any you want to chase OUT of the neighborhood?
Back Bay's recent history as a food truck magnet is set to continue, according to recent articles in the Globe and on UniversalHUB. In particular, at least one truck co-owner, Adam Gendreau of the Staff Meal food truck, says that the food truck industry is hampered by its inability to cluster-park different food trucks in the Back Bay, and seeks to change the rules.
So, if more food trucks are coming to Back Bay, who do you want in the club? Is there a truck you track religiously on Twitter, or one that brightens your day every time it drives by? Leave a comment letting us know who is the best, and we can get a discussion going on what trucks Back Bay folks want to see more of.
To refresh your memory, here are a few of the food trucks on offer in the city, in no particular order:
1. Clover Food Lab: Current recipes include chickpea fritters and seared cauliflower sandwiches, but they're also apparently working on a new whoopie pie recipe, per their blog.
2. Grilled Cheese Nation: This isn't just regular grilled cheese. The "In Gouda We Trust," which is "smoked gouda, mushrooms, caramelized onions, on Iggy’s organic dark rye" is a popular seller for them, and a Yelp reviewer calls their "Blue Man Goo" sandwich "unbelievable."
3. Bon Me: The "Bon Me Truck kicks many nearby lunch options to the curb," according to a Boston Phoenix review, and the Boston Globe says their tea-cured deviled eggs are a "yummy Asian-inspired take on a classic."
4. Momogoose: It was voted Best Food Truck in 2011 by Boston Phoenix readers for it's "joy-inducingly cheap pan-Asian fare" and the company's commitment to donating to charity.
5. Staff Meal: The current menu offers a pig's ear, a pickled watermelon rind, and a shallot for $3.50, and it won Mobile Cuisine's 2011 "Rookie Of The Year Award," beating out national competition.
Or does this list just remind you of the annoyances of food trucks, of people sitting on your front stoop, leaving trash and food crumbs behind, lines of people blocking the sidewalk as they wait to get served, and the smell of whatever the truck is cooking permeating the air? Would you like to put up a "No Parking" sign wherever you see a food truck parked?
