Who Will Run for Kerry's Seat if He's Appointed Secretary of Defense?

Would it be Scott Brown? Congressmen Markey or Capuano? Tell us who you think should run.

The Washington Post is reporting that President Obama is considering appointing Massachusetts U.S. Sen. John Kerry as the Secretary of Defense. There was speculation Kerry would become the next Secretary of State.

Either way Kerry's move to possibly become a member of Obama's cabinet will open up his current seat. Should he be appointed, a special election would be held to finish out Kerry's term, which expires in 2014.

Conversation from the breakfast table this morning to the morning commute has everyone talking - who will run for Kerry's U.S. Senate seat if he's appointed? Could it be Scott Brown? Or maybe Congressmen Ed Markey or Michael Capuano?

Only time will tell, but we know you're talking about it. So tell us, who do you think will run for Kerry's seat if he's appointed? Let us know in the comments section below.

If Markey or Capuano run I just wouldn't bother voting.

Reps. Markey or Capuano. The Dems will need to put up someone strong, with name recognition, against Scott Brown.

Hopefully the state wises up. Brown was done wrong. Bi-partisan, but moonbats don't want that. They want someone who walks the party line. It didn't matter what Brown did. The problem was that he had an R after his name.

Give it a rest, HE LOST FAIR AND SQUARE. The voters in Massachusetts are, collectively, the most intelligent in the nation. Brown claimed he was bipartisan -- but voted with the Republican party the majority of the time, particularly on some key issues that pertain to women! He voted against Elena Kagan's SC nomination (and she was known for her Massachusetts ties). THAT would have been a good time to vote bipartisan! He voted against the Lily Ledbetter Act. With a "working" wife and two "working" daughters, THAT would have been a good time to vote bipartisan! There were many ways in which Brown turned off voters. The fact is, he didn't prove he would vote in the best interests of the people of this commonwealth.

I am no Scott Brown supporter, but I think he would be a shoo-in no matter who his opponent turns out to be. Although I'm sure many Democrats would disagree, I think Martha Coakley would have the best shot. She would take him much more seriously this time, correct the mistakes she made on the first run, and return to reality the way Obama did after underestimating his opponent in that first debate.

Anyone but Brown. He did nothing during his last two years and he was trying to be viewed as bi-partisan. He is no friend to most of Massachusetts. The Dems have to come up with someone good whom we have not already judged negatively.

Do you consider our other Senator to be bi-partisan?

Our governor would be a solid senator, but he is probably sick of politics after 8 yrs on Beacon Hill. My second choice would be Capuano, a proven leader.
