Local award-winning artist David Phillips, known for his public art at Boston Common, will unveil a new sculpture at the Animal Rescue League.
Several local artists and organizations are coming together in the South End on Friday to present a new public art project. Brookline artist and resident Tony Lopes commissioned a sculpture designed by award-winning local artist David Phillips, called "Dancing with Spheres" to be unveiled at 2 p.m. at the Animal Rescue League of Boston's dog play yard at 10 Chandler St. on May 31. Phillips, a Medford resident, is known for his sculptures which can be found throughout the United States and Japan. His portfolio of public art includes the frogs at Boston Common’s Tadpole Playground and the snails of Quincy Square Park in Cambridge, as well as many other installations across Greater Boston. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, will open its doors to all visitors free of charge over Memorial Day weekend.
Admission to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston will be free all three days of Memorial Day weekend, the museum announced this week. The free days are the museum's way to celebrate "Boston I Love," a special set of exhibitions now on display, community art activities and an opportunity to donate to the One Fund. A TD Garden concert with proceeds benefitting the One Fund has sold out. Boston Strong, An Evening of Support & Celebration sold all of its tickets in five minutes, according to a tweet from the official TD Garden twitter account. "#BostonStrong shows their strength once again - 5/30 concert @tdgarden to benefit #TheOneFund sold out in 5 mins! THANK YOU for support!" Aerosmith will headline the show. Boston, Godsmack, J. The Hingham business owner said he looks forward to being at next year’s Boston Marathon.
Mark Wahlberg said he will reunite with his old hip-hop group, the Funky Bunch, to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Wahlberg, who is co-owner of Alma Nove and Wahlburgers in Hingham, told TMZ on Wednesday that “he's totally game” to get the gang back together for a fundraiser. Earlier this year, Wahlberg said Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch could make a comeback. The Hingham business owner also told Fox 25 Boston that he looks forward to being at next year's Boston Marathon. Boston Conservatory students sing "I Wont Give Up" by Jason Mraz.
Following the Boston Marathon bombings on Monday, Boston Conservatory students came together to show their support for the community with one of their strongest tools: their voices. On Youtube, Boston Conservatory student Matt Ross wrote "Me and some of my friends from The Boston Conservatory Musical Theatre Department sing Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" to share our love for this city. In spite of the terror and horror we've been a part of and seen this week, we are hopeful and proud of Boston. This is our home, our community. It's where we live, learn, and create. We "won't give up" and we're "still looking up."

Boston Police officers featured on the show dish about working with Donnie Wahlberg, and that one has never heard of New Kids on the Block.
Two of the Boston Police Department officers featured on TNT's "Boston's Finest" reality show executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg spoke having cameras following them, being on television, charity work and the New Kids on the Block. Ryan Mason, 34, from West Roxbury, and Skye Robinson, 32, from Roxbury, met up with Patch at Boston Police Headquarters at the same time. Patch: What unit are you in? Mason: Fugitive Unit – citywide. Will you be watching Donnie Wahlberg's new unscripted cops drama?
TNT's new reality show, "Boston's Finest," premieres today at 9 p.m. The unscripted show, which is executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg, follows the men and women of the Boston Police Department, promising "an up-close and very personal look at what it takes to protect and serve one of America's greatest and most distinctive cities," according to the show's website. "Unlike many unscripted series about law enforcement, 'Boston's Finest' will follow the fearless actions of the entire Boston Police Department, including beat officers, detectives, SWAT, fugitive and special task forces, as well as members of the highly decorated Gang Unit," the TNT show description states. Photographs of the once elevated Orange Line are on display through January at The Boston Public Library’s Copley location.
Did you know the MBTA’s Orange Line was once elevated? The line’s stops from Chinatown to Dudley Square were on tracks hoisted high above Washington Street. Though the line was dismantled in 1987, you can see how it looked at an exhibit through January. An Elevated View: the Orange Line, an exhibit featuring 65 photographs from between 1901 and 1987 when the Orange Line was elevated is on display at the Wiggin Gallery at Central Library in Copley Square.
