Get ready for Boston's biggest block party. On Thursday, September 6 Boston joins 250 cities around the country and 17 countries around the world for Fashion's Night Out, a celebration of fashion and shopping.
Newbury Street will be closed to traffic on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mayor Menino kicks it all off at 6 p.m from Center Stage.
A fashion show featuring the latest collections of some of the area's hottest designers including Britt Ryan begins at 6.30 p.m. at Center Stage being set up at Exeter and Newbury Streets.
Over 100 retailers in the Back Bay will try to entice shoppers with cocktails, giveaways, makeup consultations, gifts with purchase, parties, samples and much more.
Michele Messino from the Newbury Street League says Vogue Magazine came up with the idea of Fashion's Night Out in 2009 during a bad economy.
"Fashion's Night Out came about as a way to create something fun to generate business," said Messino.
There will be something for everyone on Boston's most fashionable street. Luxury cars from Herb Chambers will be on display. Shoppers will be treated to performances by bands including Sweet Tooth and the Sugarbabies, Good Will and Them Apples and Cosmodrome.
