Save the date! On Monday, October 15th, Berklee College of Music’s Music Business/Management Department is hosting the Sixth Annual Business of Hip-Hop/Urban Music Symposium: The Best in the Business as part of the celebration of the department’s 20th anniversary this year.
The symposium provides dynamic, cutting-edge insight by people behind the most prominent names in the hip-hop and urban music genres, including a conversation with Kevin Liles, a top-tier industry executive and manager for Trey Songz, D’Angelo, and Young Jeezy.
As part of the symposium, the Music Business/Management department will host a showcase/critique panel called “Show Me What You Got!” where a lucky few will be called from the audience to perform on the spot and receive feedback from Noah “40” Shebib (producer for Drake, Alicia Keys, Lil’ Wayne), Coutney Harrell ’01 (Grammy-winning songwriter for Chris Brown, John Legend, Rodney Jerkins, andKelly Rowland), Rob Lewis ’94 (music director/arranger for Diddy’s Making the Band, NKOTB, Christina Aguilera, and Patti LaBelle), and Darcie Nicole ’01 (Boston Hip-Hop Alliance, “…Ask Darci,” and Velvet Stylus).
Berklee College of Music consistently brings talented and interesting people from the industry to speak about their experiences and the industry overall, and this is yet again another instance people should not miss out on. So come on out to the Berklee Performance Center on Monday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m. to check out what this year’s symposium has to offer!
See you there!
