My New Year’s Resolution: To start spending my time more wisely.
OK, ok, ok. I am about 8 months late for my resolution. Or, am I four months early? Whatever the circumstance I am dedicated to making the hours in my day count. No, I am not giving up everything I love and turning into a Saint over night but I am going to make the most out of my time, my efforts, and my money.
With that being said I want to share the word about a great cause and hope you too understand that you can truly make a difference.
I hope it is no secret that I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals everywhere. Weather that may be sponsoring a shelter animal or helping pass a law banning breed specific legislation I believe that every soul on this earth deserves a chance. I love working with animal shelters and I am proud to be sitting on the planning committee of the MSPCA Party Animals event being held on August 16th at the Bank of America Pavilion.
Until you sit on a committee you don’t have any idea of how much work that really goes into planning a fundraiser. I look at our chair’s and am amazed at all they work they do. I play such a small part and am just helping where ever I can. These events are so important and crucial to the future of the MSPCA and the events are being organized by people who are volunteering their time.
I am not telling you all this because I want you to volunteer – I am telling you all this because I want you to purchase a ticket to attend this great event! Think about it this way... This evening is going to be full of food provided by Jerry Remy’s, drinks provided by Harpoon Brewery and Bauer Wine, raffle prizes including Red Sox tickets, and you will be surrounded by great people… What could get better than that? Oh, that’s right - the tickets are tax deductable!
On any given Thursday evening you could go out with your friends at some swank eatery and spend the exact amount on what it would cost to purchase a ticket to the Party Animals fundraiser. At the end of your typical evening you are just left with a hangover… at the end of the night after attending our fundraiser you will be full, could have Sox tickets in your pocket, AND have won several karma points because you know all your money went to an amazing organization (hangover is optional).
Want to learn a little more? Founded in 1868, the MSPCA is the second-oldest humane society in the United States. Their services include animal protection and adoption, advocacy, humane education, law enforcement and the highest-quality veterinary care available anywhere in the world. They provide direct hands-on care to more than 250,000 animals each year including:
- Approximately 50,000 pets who are treated by Angell’s 75+ veterinarians;
- More than 10,000 pets who are placed into loving homes, including more than 600 farm animals;
- Dozens of bill and public policy matters which involve our testimony and lobbying efforts including issues related to wildlife, companion, farm and laboratory animals.
- Additional programs like the Spay/Neuter Assistance Program and Pets in Housing work to ensure that pets have the best quality of life possible.
I urge you to please join Brad and me and the rest of the Audrey’s family on August 16th at the Party Animals event. I personally promise that it will be a wonderful night and YOU will be making a bigger difference than you could ever imagine.
So, this year I ask that you stop to think and realize that your time, efforts, and money could allow you to have as much fun as you have ever had AND make a difference (that is tax deductible)! Purchase a ticket to the MSPCA’s Party Animals fundraising event and other charities that are near and dear to your heart. It will be the best (and most fun) resolution that you have ever made!
