Artsy Boutique Wild Indigo Closing by End of Month

They're holding a 50 percent off sale that starts on Saturday.

Wild Indigo, a boutique on Dartmouth Street that sells crafts by more than 50 local artists, is closing by the end of the month. They're holding a 50 percent off sale that starts on Saturday. "It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that I will be closing Wild Indigo Boutique on Warren and Dartmouth at the end of my lease in June 2012," owner Christina Murphy wrote in a letter to clients. "A significant increase in the rent, and changes in the terms of my lease, which would allow for direct competition on the same block, preclude me from continuing at this location." Murphy says she's exploring other options and hopes this is a hiatus, not a goodbye.

VIDEO: Ghosts Caught on Camera at Gypsy Rose

The pole dancing studio is haunted. Owner Wendy Reardon will tell her supernatural tale on the Biography Channel's 'My Ghost Story' Saturday night.

Orbs flying across the screen are clearly visible in Gypsy Rose owner Wendy Reardon's iPhone video footage showcased by the Boston Herald. Some zip across the screen. Others hover in front of the camera, clearly freaking out Herald Inside Track reporter Megan Johnson. Reardon, who's given her seven or eight ghosts names like Bullet, Blinky and Thriller, says they followed her from her Quincy studio - where she used to hear voices calling her name and the lights would flicker.  Never underestimating the power of positive conversation, she'd ask them to stop and they'd listen. When she moved to Boston she invited them to come with her, and they clearly obliged.  “I believe they were spirits that used to work in the area and just happen to …

Ross: No First-Floor Banks on Some Streets

City Councilor Mike Ross said Charles Street on Beacon Hill is an example of a business district where retail is being strangled by too many street-level banks.

Clusters of banks can strangle the retail vitality of certain Boston streets, warned City Councilor Mike Ross. Ross said Charles Street on Beacon Hill is an example where too many "big box banks" are buying up storefronts at inflated prices mom and pop shops can't afford. The resulting row of banks deadens what could be lively retail zones. "It’s not right for every street to make this 'No Bank First Floor' zoning change, but I believe it’s right for Charles Street on Beacon Hill," said Ross, who represents District 8. Ross said that banks close at 5 p.m. and aren't open on weekends, all of which has a deadening effect for the neighborhood businesses. He made his remarks at Wednesday's City Council meeting. The matter will be taken up by …
