For 16 years federal agents searched for the whereabouts of James "Whitey" Bulger. Last night, at an apartment complex in Santa Monica, CA, he and his girlfriend Catherine Greig were apprehended after a nationwide campaign launched earlier in the week asking the public's help to find Greig in the hopes Bulger would be nearby. The notorious crime boss left his mark on Boston history and the Bay State. Dozens of people came together Monday at the Old South Church to light a flame for all those affected by the earthquake in Japan. The vigil  The vigil was co-hosted by the Japan Society of Boston to acknowledge the solidarity of Japan and Boston’s ties, and to express sympathy for the victims of the natural disaster. In attendance were Gov. Deval Patrick; Takeshi Hikihara, Consul General of Japan in Boston; and Peter Grilli, President of the Japan Society of Boston.
On Saturday night, the sky over Boston was filled with the biggest moon in nearly 20 years, according to NASA. Patch photographer Courtney Sacco ventured out to several Boston landmarks to capture them alongside the "Super Moon."
Happy Mardi Gras! Boston had its own celebration on Saturday. People turned out in festive attire for New Orleans cuisine, live music, dancing and fabulous auction prizes at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel.  The event was hosted by the Friends of Copley Square, and all proceeds went toward the square.
