Built in 1969, Boston's City Hall is the center of the city's government. Many city departments are based in City Hall, but others are located in different parts of the city; call ahead if you're unsure of where a specific department is located.

On a nine-story building with an outside brick plaza that is used for events on a regular basis, City Hall is easily accessible by the orange, green and blue lines of the MBTA. Driving to City Hall is often more difficult, and there is not much free parking around the area, although paid lots are available.
