Community Update

On behalf of Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins, you have been invited to attend the Department's first Directions for Corrections community forum of the year, which will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014. Sheriff Steven Tompkins will be moderating this forum at Roxbury Community College in the Media Arts Center from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

Directions for Corrections has been established to give recognized leaders and experts in the fields of criminal justice, education, business, politics, social work and religion the opportunity to offer their insights and perspectives on current and recurring issues. Using this series of forums, Directions for Corrections will be educational and interactive with the very specific goal of raising public awareness and increasing individual and group participation in issues of importance to the communities we serve. Each forum will have a specific topic and a selected panel representing a range of expertise on the topic.

This Directions for Corrections forum will feature an informative discussion about the mission and functions of the following organizations operating within the Massachusetts justice system: The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the Probation Department, the Massachusetts Parole Board and the Department of Youth Services (DYS). The panelists that have been selected to speak to these issues are: Dan Conley, Suffolk County District Attorney; Peter Forbes, Commissioner, Department of Youth Services; Ed Dolan, Commissioner, Department of Probation; Josh Wall, Parole Board Chairman.
