Prudential Center, Zakim Bridge to Glow Red For Women Friday Night

The building will shine red in support of the fight against heart disease in women.

The Prudential Center in Boston will shine a bright red light on the fight against heart disease on Friday night.

In celebration of the 11th National Wear Red Day, the Pru will glow red to support the Go Red For Women movement across the nation in an effort to "shine a light—quite literally—on the No. 1 killer of women—heart disease," the American Heart Association said in a statement Friday. The AHA and its Go Red For Women Movement spreads awareness on the fight against heart disease in women by wearing red.

Employees at several statewide companies, as well as news anchors and thousands of others are expected to wear red Friday in support of the cause. Buildings and landmarks across the state will also glow with the color; the Zakim Bridge will also be among the landmarks.
