Should Boston 'Open Streets' for Community, Social Events?

The Open Streets project allows for the closure of a road for the use of walking, dancing and socializing.

Picture this: A designated Boston street normally used for vehicular traffic is closed for several hours on a particular day for the sole purpose of individuals gathering to walk, dance, bike and socialize.

That is the essence of what is known as The Open Streets Project, something a handful of streets in Boston have participated in, according to West Roxbury Main Streets, which recently posed a question to readers on Facebook asking what residents in that particular Boston neighborhood think about trying it out.

Surrounding neighborhoods on Huntington Avenue and Blue Hill Avenue, among others, have already tried the project out, according to WRMS.
