Audrey's Highlights Their Favorites...

While Audrey's Pet Supply may be closing we are still trying to pay it forward and highlight the local companies and individuals who have supported us over the last three years.

Audrey’s will be closing at 296 Newbury Street at the end of March due to an extreme rent increase. It is devastating but true.  While we figure out what is our next step is I want to take the opportunity over the next 7 weeks that we will be in business to share with you.

The first question that everyone has been asking me is “Is there anything we can do?”  While this might not be the answer they are expecting the answer is actually “yes, there is something you can do”.  For the past 3 years there have been some amazing and incredible people and companies that have supported me each and every day.  My greatest request of you all is to continue to support these amazing people and companies because without them, Audrey’s may not have been possible.  Each week I will take the time to highlight these individuals and hopefully lend them a little support like they have given me.

Week 1:

Find out what's happening in Back Baywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Perhaps the very first thing anyone notices in our store is not our products, not the Chinchilla living behind out desk, and not even the flat screen TV but the amazing picture hanging across from our TV that features Brad, Kendall, and I walking along the esplanade.  Then, I point out the picture of our big Maine Coon, Yogi, hanging above my desk, the pictures of Kendall playing with her baseball in the back by the dog beds, and the one of me holding our black & white tuxedo kitty, Tess.

Everything at Audrey’s was carefully designed by me from the crown molding, the wing back chair, the custom display pieces, but most importantly the photography.  I had a vision to hang pictures of our “furry kids” around the store to really help customers see our love for animals.  Problem was I needed to find a photographer who was talented enough to bring my vision to life.

Introducing… Fat Orange Cat Studio and the woman behind the lens, Li Ward.  Ilearned of FOCS from my dear friends at the Back Bay Framery & Photo (another wonderful hidden gem in the city) when I saw a stunning yet candid picture of a dog on display.  I inquired about the artist and contacted Li immediately.

What drew me immediately into Li’s work was her whimsical approach towards the subjects that she was shooting.  The dogs were off centered, the lighting wasunique, the landscaping was “crooked” but most importantly I could see the soulof each and every pet.  I knew this was my girl!

I will ask that you browse Li’s work when you need to smile, or provide a much needed distraction at work. Her tag line is “Photography for you and your best friend” and specializes in wedding and pet photography. Her work is perfection but Li as a person is what really makes the FOCS a rare and total package.  Li is no longer just our store photographer.  Li is a dear friend and her passion and talent combined with love of wine, rescue animals, and witty sense of humor makes her someone you WANT to work with.

Please visit her website, “like” her Facebook page, read her blog, and more importantly support her work. If you don’t have photography needs, please send her information along to friends who might.  Li helped bring a very important component of my vision of Audrey’s to life.  She has supported our store and that is why I am asking you to now support her.
