Coffee Talk for the Animal Enthusiast

I would like to introduce myself as one pet lover to another and hear what you would like to talk about! The pet community in Boston is growing and I think we should talk about it.

Who Am I?

Maybe let’s start with who I am not as I fear that list might be longer.  I am not an expert.  I am not a veterinarian.  I am not a certified trainer.  I am not a nutritionist.  I am not a paid representative of any pet food company.

I wanted to start off with what I am not because I want to be open and honest and candid with you all.  Just because I have taken on the very daunting task of publically putting my thoughts in public forum does not mean my words are gospel.  I know there will be several people out in cyber space that will disagree with me or will want to give their two cents.  I have always said that there is no perfect anything out there.  If there were all the other companies, products, methods, and theories would cease to exist.  I state this only because if I mention and/or talk about something it is simply just ONE way of doing something or ONE opinion.

Now on to Who Am I?

I am a girl who has been devoted to her pets her entire life and has dreamed of opening her own pet supply store in the heart of the Back Bay in Boston to help better serve the pet community.  I opened in the summer of 2010 along with my husband Brad and support of my amazing family.  Over the past year and a half I have learned more than I had in my previous 28 years on earth combined.  I am constantly educated by product representatives, fellow colleagues, business associates, and most importantly of all I learn from our customers each and every day.  That is why I want to put down some of the things I have learned and blog about it.

The purpose of this blog is to talk about all things “pet” related.  Many people think that simply means talking about dog treats and training tips.  However, I want it to be so much more than that.  I want to talk about EVERYTHING.  I want to talk to you about products, training, food, behavior, adoption, seasonal issues… heck; I’ll even talk to you about hamster food if that’s what you want!  I want this to be fun and possibly help along the way.

I have a lot of “theories” and hope to share them all with you over the next several blog entries but I am going to end on this onetoday.  I am a rational pet owner.  I love my pets dearly and of course consider them part of the family.  (Let’s be honest – I opened up a pet store because I love my pets so much!)  For those of you who have never been to Audrey’s or have never met me I have a lovely menagerie of furry kids at home including my dog Kendall, my two cats Yogi & Tess, and my Chinchilla Bella who actually serves as our store mascot.

Even with all that love, I am a firm believer of finding a balance and make sure that our customers are comfortable with their decisions and the way the treat their pets.  I could talk to you until I am blue in the face but if you do not agree with what I am saying than you are never going to follow my advice.  I think part of being a responsible pet supply store owner is helping our customers find solutions that they are comfortable with.

I look forward to writing and hearing what you all would like me to write about.  If you have any specific questions or topics you would like to read about please let
me know!  I can be reached at Brittany@audreysboston.com
