Back Bay Venues Sign Up for Boston Food Bank's 'Super Hunger Brunch'

The annual brunch will allow patrons to "do good and eat well" in Boston Jan. 26-27.

If only there were more charitable events where all you have to do is show up and eat.

For conscious-minded consumers on Beacon Hill, several neighborhood and area restaurants are offering the opportunity to do just that, through the Greater Boston Food Bank's Super Hunger Brunch on Jan. 26-27.

Dine at several Back Bay venues for brunch on the restaurant's fixed price menus and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Greater Boston Food Bank, which doles out nearly 41 million pounds of food and grocery products a year to 550 member hunger-relief agencies in Boston and eastern Massachusetts.

The event, in its 31st year, features 21 restaurants all over the city with prices set at $25, $35 and $50 per person. Last year more than 1,600 people participated and raised $67,000 for the food bank.

Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley’s Bistro serves on the Super Hunger Brunch Culinary Committee, and is considered a "longtime champion" of the fundraiser, according to the food bank. Chefs Jody Adams of Rialto, Mary Dumont of Harvest Restaurant, Tony Maws of Craigie on Main, Paul O’ Connell of Chez Henri, Frank McClelland of New France, Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger and Brooke Vosika of The Bristol Lounge at The Four Seasons join him on the committee.

“The food community has always supported our efforts to feed those in need in eastern Massachusetts," said Catherine D’Amato, president and chief executive officer of The Greater Boston Food Bank. Chefs, restaurateurs and purveyors are among her organization’s most compassionate and consistent benefactors, she said.

"We are so grateful for their time, their talents and their generosity," she said.

Reservations are already being accepted for the event, and can be made through each individual restaurant's website. Gift certificates are also available at gbfb.org/SuperHungerBrunch
