Developer Looks to Build New 33-Story Hotel and Residential Tower in Copley Square

Developers are looking to build a 33-story hotel and residential tower at the corner of Stuart Street and Trinity Place, where the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Center now sits.

Trinity Stuart LLC – a joint venture between Jordan Warshaw, Gary Saunders and Jeffrey Saunders – filed a letter of intent with the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Aug. 21 to build a tower with 220 hotel rooms, 142 residential units, ground-floor retail space and 100 parking spaces. It would replace the eight-story Boston Common Hotel.

"We look forward to working with the City and the community to help ensure that our project complements the surrounding urban context and brings new vitality and energy to this important, underutilized block of Stuart Street," the partners said in a press release. 

Allyson Quinby, a spokeswoman for developers, told Patch that the group intends to file a Project Notification Form (PNF) and a rendering later this month. 

The Saunders family owned and operated the Copley Square Hotel for 60 years, the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for 30 years, and currently owns and operates the nearby Lenox Hotel as it has for more than 48 years.
