International Clothing Store Plans Openings in Back Bay, Faneuil Hall

UNIQLO is opening six stores in the Greater Boston area.

International clothing store chain UNIQLO is opening six stores in the Greater Boston area over the next year, including a flagship store on Newbury Street in Back Bay and a location at Faneuil Hall in Boston.

Both the 341 Newbury St. location in Back Bay and the Faneuil Hall locations are scheduled to open in Spring 2015. Other locations opening this year are a pop-up shop at the Natick Mall, the Mall at Chestnut Hill, Legacy Place in Dedham and Northshore Mall in Peabody.

“We are pleased to introduce the UNIQLO experience to Boston. Proud of their city’s importance in American history, and winning sports traditions, Bostonians have high expectations. We believe our everyday basics of exceptional value and functional apparel will delight them and contribute meaningfully to their lives,” said Larry Meyer, CEO of UNIQLO USA and Fast Retailing Group Senior Vice President.

The chain, which currently has 20 stores in the U.S. and more than 1,300 across the world, is expected to open in other US markets, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

UNIQLO is a brand of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Japanese retail holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under seven main brands: Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, J Brand, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and UNIQLO.

The company had global sales of more than $11 billion in 2013. It sponsors top-ranked male professional tennis player Novak Djokovic.
