Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Fenway’s Newest Hotel: The Residence Inn Boston Back Bay/Fenway

With rooms that overlook Fenway Park and a location conveniently adjacent to Boston’s premier universities and hospitals, the all-suite Residence Inn Boston Back Bay/Fenway officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting celebration last week. The eight-story hotel features 175 rooms ranging in size from studios to four-bedroom suites as well as an indoor pool, on-site parking and a rooftop terrace with stunningly beautiful views of the city. Local dignitaries attending the ribbon cutting included Boston City Councilor Michael Ross, Boston Police Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald, representatives from the Fenway Civic Association, the Boston Red Sox, and Marriott Hotels, as well as property owner, Boylston Properties, property manager, Pyramid Hotel Group, and others associated with the development.

“The Longwood Medical and Fenway area has experienced a lot of transformation in recent years making it a great location to live, work, and visit,” said William McQuillan, President of Boylston Properties. “The entire Fenway community deserves a lot of credit for being so supportive of the redevelopment taking place. We knew that by bringing an extended stay hotel with great amenities to Brookline Avenue we could further enhance the neighborhood’s appeal while meeting the unique lodging needs of professionals associated with the nearby medical and university communities.”

Boylston Properties has contracted Pyramid Hotel Group, a Boston-based full service hotel management and advisory firm, to operate and manage the hotel.  To mark the hotel’s opening, both companies made a joint donation of $20,000 to the Boston Police Athletic League.

“We are pleased to welcome the Residence Inn and Marriott brand to the Fenway and for the opportunity to be associated with this project,” said Jim Dina, Chief Operating Officer and Principal of Pyramid Hotel Group. “Boylston Properties has created a splendid asset in a prime location. We have put in place a great team of associates who look forward to serving our guests. This hotel will have special appeal to business and leisure travelers for its proximity to hospitals, universities, excellent restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and of course, Red Sox baseball.”

The hotel is just blocks away from Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess, Brigham & Women’s and the Longwood Medical Area. The all-suite room layout is spacious, making it ideal for family stays or extended business trips. All rooms include fully equipped kitchens and desk areas giving guests the option to prepare meals in their rooms and work out of their suites. Meetings and social events can be held in one of two function rooms or on the rooftop terrace. In addition to the indoor pool, other amenities include a fitness center, on-site laundry, a complimentary hot breakfast each morning and a complimentary evening social every Monday through Thursday.

“Our goal is to provide guests a premier experience that meets the varied needs of today’s business and leisure travelers. This starts with having a passionate hotel team who take pride in their community,” says Richard Kelleher, Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Pyramid Hotel Group. “We will strive to insure each guest has all the comforts of home while away. And, whether guests are just visiting our great city for a short trip or here for longer-term lodging, our associates stand ready to welcome them.”
