Truly Easy and Thoughtful Homemade Gifts

13 great gift ideas for the not-so-crafty.

At this time of year we are inundated with suggestions for cheap, homemade gifts. But as much as we want to save money and be frugal with our holiday shopping, it seems that these gift ideas were meant for either the super-skilled crafting pro or someone with no gift-giving conscience. Well, move over Martha Stewart, because the Frugal Family guru is here with some really great and truly easy homemade gift ideas.

It might at first seem like a package of cocoa mix or a bar of soap are not impressive gifts, but when combined with other homemade gifts, placed in a basket and decorated with a bow, they become magically transformed into thoughtful, charming presents.

One of my favorite homemade presents to receive is hot chocolate. I love the stuff, really, can't get enough of it this time of year, being that I am both a chocoholic and a sucker f0r fireside-warm-drink-sipping. So here's the recipe:

Homemade Instant Hot Cocoa Mix (makes about 4 gifts):

2 cups nonfat  dry milk

1 cup sugar

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa

1/8 tsp. salt

1 pack of chocolate OR vanilla instant pudding mix

optional: add 1/4 cup instant coffee for mocha flavor
