Police have not indicated when Boylston will reopen. "The extended crime scene scope continues to be a crime scene and may be that for several days," Police Commissioner Ed Davis said at a Tuesday morning press conference.

"We want you to live your life. We want you to be vigilant. But we do have a presence. We want to reduce that threat," he said. "Give us a little room in the Copley Square area as we process the scene but we are trying to turn it back to the community as quickly as we can."

Police were called to the corner of Boylston and Dalton streets at 9:58 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious package. Initial reports, not from police, indicated that the package was found in front of Capital Grille and had packages sticking out of it. A police bomb squad is on the scene.
