'Clark Rockefeller' Massachusetts Conviction Upheld

Appeal rejected in kidnapping and assault cases.

The Massachusetts appeals court on Friday upheld the kidnapping and assault convictions Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, the man better known in Boston as "Clark Rockefeller," one of his several fake names.

The Associated Press reported that judges rejected appeals for a new trial for Gerhartsreiter. His lawyers argued that publicity tainted his trial and improper testimony was allowed.

He was sentenced to 4 to 5 years in prison for both kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter in 2009 and assaulting a social worker overseeing his supervised visit with the girl in the Back Bay.
