Man Teaching Woman How to Open Folding Knife at Bar Stabs Friend

Boston Police officers responded to a report of a person stabbed near The Crossroads at 495 Beacon Street at 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, February 17.

When officers located the victim in the rear of the upstairs bar, friends of the victim were applying pressure to the victim’s leg. The suspect identified himself and stated, “I stabbed him.” Officers put the suspect in handcuffs and frisked him for any weapons. Officers located a folding knife with a white handle with blood on the two and a half inch blade.

Officers observed a pool of blood on the floor of the bar and the victim’s jeans, which were soaked. A witness used a belt as a tourniquet. The victim was pale and clammy and started to slip into unconsciousness.

A witness told officers that she was talking to the suspect about how she should carry a knife for self-defense. The witness said that she did not know how to open a folding knife. The suspect then showed her how to open the knife and how to make a stabbing motion. While demonstrating the stabbing motion, the suspect stabbed the victim in the thigh, just above the knee.

Officers arrested Douglas Rodrigues of 358 Commonwealth Avenue and charged him with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
