Protecting the Sunlight in Public Parks and Four More Things to Know Today: Tue, April 5

1. Do you enjoy sunny days Copley Square? How about while walking along the Commonwealth Avenue Mall? Sign a petition filed by Reps. Marty Walz and Byron Rushing supporting a bill to protect sunlight on public parks. Specifically, it would prohibit new construction from having a shadow over a certain length, to allow for sunlight in the parks. The protects parks are: The Back Bay Fens, Christopher Columbus Park, The Commonwealth Avenue Mall, Copley Square Park, The Esplanade, and Magazine Beach Park. 2. Does it seem brighter inside the Storrow Drive Tunnel? Well, it should. Crews from the Department of Conservation and Recreation went through and replaced all the light bulbs Sunday morning. We could insert a joke here, but we're not sure how many people it took.

Finding Peace,, a new exhibit opening at The Mary Baker Eddy Library, explores four characteristics of a peacemaker including forgiveness, kindness, understanding, and reflection, and highlighting events when people have used these traits to work for peace in their own lives and in the world around them.

Best-selling author Diane Ackerman is giving a at the at 6 p.m. Her new book, One Hundred Names for Love: A Stroke, a Marriage and the Language of Healing, is about her husband, Paul West, a gifted writer and intellectual who suffered a stroke and was afflicted with aphasia, loss of language. Ackerman soon found that with love and scientific understanding, she could guide Paul back to the world of words.
