Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Boston Area

The National Weather Service expects 3-6 inches of snow for Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Boston area. The service expects three to six inches of snow to fall between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, according to an advisory updated at 1:15 p.m. Friday.

The heaviest snow is expected from mid-morning to early afternoon Saturday, according to the advisory.

“Snow will accumulate quickly as the ground is already cold. Untreated surfaces will become slippery quickly. Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destinations,” read the statement.

The storm will bring moderately strong winds, with gusts of up to 20 MPH, and visibility could drop to less than half a mile at times.
