An intimate evening with Mary Lambert & Special Guest Caroline Harvey

As a performer, Lambert exemplifies the traditions of a singer/songwriter while melding a background in spoken-word. After the powerful body-image poem “I Know Girls (Body Love)” went viral without any promotion, her debut album Letters Don't Talk firmly established Mary as a formidable unsigned artist. This status was cemented when the lesbian singer-songwriter paired up with the multi-platinum selling artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to help write and sing their revolutionary single, “Same Love”. The track, an honoring of same-sex marriage, has led Mary to tour nationally with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and allowed her to reach millions by performing live on MTV Video Music Awards, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, VH1, and The Colbert Report. “Same Love” has reached platinum status in the US, peaking at number 11 on The Billboard Hot 100. In August of 2013, Lambert released her version of the hit song entitled “She Keeps Me Warm".

Poet, educator and activist Caroline Harvey performs and teaches internationally. Caroline was a member and coach of multiple award-winning poetry slam teams, was featured on Season Five of HBO's Def Poetry, and has shared stages with Melissa Ferrick, Livingston Taylor, Alicia Keys, and Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), among others. She was a Pushcart Prize nominee in 2012, and a nominee for Best New Poets in 2013. Caroline was featured recently at the US Embassy in Serbia where she performed original work and led workshops about free speech for the first generation of youth to grow up post-Milosevic. Her writing has been published in national and academic literary journals, including the National Poetry Slam Anthology "High Desert Voices," Gertrude Press, Radius, The Legendary, and The Lowestoft Chronicle. Her most recent collection, "bird wing and bone marrow," is receiving international acclaim. Her poetry is equal parts folk & punk, sacred & irreverent, and it tracks her belief that every moment is an extraordinary opportunity for healing, beauty, and illumination. When not touring, Caroline lives in Boston and is an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music.
