Annual Berklee Showcase Celebrates 30 Years of Stylish Singers, December 5

The annual Singers Showcase
concerts have presented some of Berklee’s most exceptional lead vocalists since
1983. Susan Tedeschi, Paula Cole, Lalah Hathaway, Robin McKelle, and Karmin’s
Amy Heidemann all performed while they were students. This year, Singers
Showcase celebrates its 30th anniversary with a concert that highlights exceptional voices
from Berklee’s current international student population, and hit songs by famed
Showcase alumni.

The Berklee Singers Showcase 30th Anniversary Concert takes place
Thursday, December 5, at the Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts
Avenue. Tickets are $8 in advance, and $12 the night of the show. Tickets are
available at the Berklee Performance Center box office, or at berklee.edu/bpc. Call 617-747-2261.
The Performance Center is wheelchair accessible.

More than 100 vocalists
auditioned for Singers Showcase. Each singer is given two minutes to impress a
panel of judges with just an acoustic guitar or piano accompanying them.
Ultimately, eight singers are chosen. They rehearse for weeks, and then appear
in Berklee’s largest concert hall performing R&B, pop, gospel, musical
theater, country, and Latin songs.
