Embracing the Legacy

On Tuesday, June 3 at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, advocates for disadvantaged youth will be honored at Embracing the Legacy, the premier annual gala of Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps that raises funds to support its programs. The agency, which is celebrating 45 years of service, is a national leader in developing and implementing model, successful child welfare and juvenile justice programs.
In the spirit of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s belief that individuals can make a difference in the world, the agency will present the Embracing the Legacy Award to advocates who have worked to eliminate injustice affecting children.
During the event, Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III, RFK Children’s Action Corps’ board member and an event chair, will reflect on his late grandfather’s legacy and the lasting contributions he made toward protecting society’s most vulnerable children and families. Also serving as event chairs are agency board members John Boyle, of Wayland, senior managing director, principal at Cassidy Turley, and James Geraghty, of Westford, financial advisor at Morgan Stanley.
The event will include a cocktail reception, seated dinner and program, including the presentation of the Embracing the Legacy Award to the following honorees:
William Achtmeyer; chairman and managing partner of the Parthenon Group; Dr. Deborah Frank, founder of Children’s HealthWatch and Grow Clinic for Children at Boston Medical Center; Laurie Garduque, director of justice reform at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; Jonathan Kozol, author, educator, and civil rights activist.
Susan Wornick, former anchor of WCVB-TV’s midday newscast who has been a longtime supporter, volunteer and member of RFK Children’s Action Corps’ advisory council, will emcee the 300-person event.
Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps’ annual Embracing the Legacy Award celebrates the legacy of Robert F. Kennedy and the work of the organization founded to carry out his principles of social justice for the poor and disadvantaged. Through the event, RFK Children’s Action Corps raises money to support some of Massachusetts’ most vulnerable youth and families, giving them a second chance for a better life.
The event will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston. Individual tickets are $300 and corporate sponsorship opportunities are available.
