Behind the Curtain

The BCAE Heads South with a Behind the Curtain Performance of MEMPHIS
The Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) continues its popular “Behind the Curtain” series with Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre’s performance of MEMPHIS. The series, which has already brought students behind the scenes of the Boston Ballet’s performance of "Romeo and Juliet" and the Huntington Theatre Company’s "Good People," is aimed at providing students with a one-of-a-kind look inside Boston’s historic theaters and the world-class performances that take place there.
On Wednesday, December 12th, 2012, students will start their journey to Memphis at the BCAE as they get a true taste of the South with an authentic food and whiskey tasting led by BCAE Instructor Dustin Todd Rennells. After experiencing some Southern hospitality, students will walk over to the Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre to enjoy a performance of MEMPHIS, winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including “Best Musical.”  For $76.00 students will not only enjoy the tastes of MEMPHIS but will also experience the show of high energy choreography and rock ’n’ roll that accompanies the story of an unconventional couple dealing with the struggles of their time. Inspired by Dewey Phillips, one of the first white DJ’s to play black music on the radio in the 1950’s, this tale follows his interracial love story with a black singer.
