The Road Show at the BCAE

Join the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) on Friday, February 8th, 2013 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at a special, free reception to celebrate the launch of “The Road Show,” a new exhibition featuring the work of Cambridge-based photographer Mikki Ansin.

Best-known for her behind-the-scenes stills of Hollywood films, Mikki Ansin has travelled the world as a photojournalist for over 40 years. Her photos have been published in the International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, The London Times, TIME, LIFE, People and Paris Match. “The Road Show” exhibits Mikki’s worldwide travels to places such as China, Russia, Turkey, Morocco, Italy and France, and each photograph powerfully depicts the scenery and daily lives of those abroad. The photos, including subjects such as an elephant caravan in India, lemons in Île St. Louis, Paris, a tuba player in Red Square, Moscow, and an old man in Shanghai, will be on display at the BCAE through March 2013.

Miki’s career started as a photojournalist who specialized in people, politics and film. Her career launched in the late 1970s, when her photo of the little-known presidential candidate Jimmy Carter ran as a double-page spread in the New York Times Sunday magazine. Since then, Mikki has photographed the Kennedy’s and the Kennedy Foundation, has worked with Merchant Ivory Productions, Gamma/Liaison Agency and Getty Images and has also lectured at the Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art and at the Aix-en-Provence, Cambridge Center in Florence, Italy. Her work is collected by The Bibliotheque Nationale (Paris), the Kennedy Library, the United States Information Agency (USIA) and numerous private collectors. Some of her awards and achievements in photography include the American Society of Media Photographers “Best of 2012,” a CINE Golden Eagle, first place stills at the Deauville Film Festival, honors in the PS3 Prix de le Photographie Paris and a White House appointment to the Board of Governors of the USO.
