Film Screening: "20 Feet From Stardom"

This screening of 20 Feet From Stardom, a documentary about backup singers who have supported some of the biggest names in music, will be followed by a panel discussion with singer Lisa Fischerand Berklee faculty members Janice PendarvisDonna McElroyGabrielle Goodman, and Janie Barnett.

Fischer’s extensive touring career includes backup performances for Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, and Beyonce, among many others. She won a Grammy for her hit single, “How Can I Ease the Pain,” which was nominated in the same category as “Burnin’” by Patti LaBelle, for whom Fischer had previously worked as a backup singer. The panel will explore Fischer’s journey from backup singer to successful lead performer.
