How to Save the Oceans and Feed the World
Oceana CEO
Andrew Sharpless and author of The
Perfect Protein will talk about how with population growth expected to
reach 9 billion by 2050, we will need more wild fish than ever to feed us,
particularly since 1 billion of the poorest people rely on seafood as their
main source of protein. He looks at anchovies, mackerel, and sardines are used
to feed salmon and other farmed fish but could also feed millions
inexpensively. He argues that if 25 coastal nations in the world take three
steps, we can save the ocean and feed the world. Book signing to follow.
