Musical Odyssey II Featuring the Greek Music Ensemble

The Greek Music Ensemble
is a Boston-based group of professional musicians who are committed to
the critical interpretation and high-quality performance of Greek,
Balkan, and eastern Mediterranean art music. The group
aspires to promote further this music and make it part of the world
music scene. To this end, the Greek Music Ensemble will perform selected
genres of Greek, Balkan, and eastern Mediterranean music that have
informed and shaped the art music history of Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia,
and Albania, as well as Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Syria,
Egypt, and others.

Among the goals of the Greek Music Ensemble is to redefine and
elevate the performance standards of these musics in the United States
in a way that would represent their true spirit, stylistic nuances, and
accurate interpretation. The group's approach to the performance is
based on a critical exploration and interpretation of the unique
stylistic and technical aspects of the music, and on a highly skilled,
elaborate, and inspired presentation of it.

The instrumentation includes three vocalists, double bass, percussion, acoustic guitar, piano, accordion, bouzouki, clarinet, violin, and oud.
